Our Christmas T's have started their design journey!<\/h3>

For big companies, this is really late - but small organisations, like Little Signers Club, are able to combine greater flexibility alongside the stunning work of Chris, at ha! creative later on in the year.<\/p>

I have a really clear idea of what I wanted to see for our gorgeous Christmas collection of BSL Fingerspelling T-Shirts; bright design, clear sign language alphabet and something that would bring everyone together too.<\/p>

What stumped me, unexpectedly, is that TeeMill don't, yet, do a kids sized red T. (Although they do for adults).<\/p>

And the green is khaki, not bright.<\/p>

And white - well, its harder to design for white with Cath's amazing fingerspelling graphics.<\/p>

So I took my worries to the Little Signers Club team, who provide me with much needed support when life gets a bit wobbly.<\/p>

And yes, absolutely, red T's would be stunning. (Fingers crossed that TeeMill take on board my plea before Christmas!)<\/p>

But it seems that you're also very happy with navy or grey or black backgrounds too - mainly because light colours can cause a problem with messy small folk and stain quickly.<\/p>

So, with that concern shelved for a little while at least, Chris and I have been tooing and froing all week on our Christmas collection plans.<\/p>

I don't think that it is widely known just how much time and love goes into the design process; each of our bespoke T designs takes hours of discussion about<\/p>

  • fonts and colours<\/p><\/li>

  • where illustration lines are needed<\/p><\/li>

  • the small tweaks that make a candy cane sing<\/p><\/li>

  • whether the colourways are correct for the BSL T-shirt collection we are working on<\/p><\/li>

  • how the correlation of the A-Z sits with the BSL fingerspelling alphabet or graphic so that small - and tall - folk immediately 'get' it<\/p><\/li>

  • and, lastly whether the collection itself is cohesive.<\/p>

    <\/p><\/li><\/ul>

    <\/p>

    On top of that, there is the responsibility of getting things Just Right.<\/h3>

    British Sign Language is the UK's fourth indigenous language, a lifeline for d\/Deaf people who use it as their first language.<\/p>

    Little Signers Club predominantly introduces sign language to hearing families; it is far easier for a hearing person to learn how to sign than it is for a d\/Deaf person to learn how to hear.<\/p>

    For me, for example, signing is something amazing to learn - but for my eldest daughter, who is diagnosed with APD, signing is a lifeline, a means of communication that increases her understanding and ability to be a part of her immediate community.<\/p>

    All of our lovely designs have been created with fun and connection in mind. A staggering 90% of people (hearing and d\/Deaf) would just love to learn sign language, but, almost unbelievably, most don't get the chance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    The BSL fingerspelling alphabet is the perfect way to start your signing journey.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>

    And our bright, fun, fingerspelling T-shirts will make learning\u00a0memorable for everyone.\u00a0 Each T-Shirt has been carefully considered, with the A-Z matching the BSL letter below it, for easy correlation and sign language mastery.<\/span><\/p>

    All of the fingerspelling alphabet signs have been kindly donated by leading Early Years sign language\u00a0author, Cath Smith,\u00a0of Lets Sign BSL, who we have had the privilege of working with since 2010.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    I'm so looking forward to our T-Shirt journey together. I\u00a0hope that you'll join me in our mission to remove isolation, and let everyone enjoy the brilliance of learning to sign through clothing that has been designed to connect, to start a conversation, to create community.<\/span><\/p>
